SCOTT WEINGER Q & A

Third Edition: July 21, 2005

Question: Are you currently engaged or married?
Scott: I've never been married, but I have a great girlfriend.

Question:Is there any way there will be another Aladdin if you wrote the script? (From: Jester1295)
Scott: I would love to write an Aladdin script! Of course I would do that in a heartbeat, if they let me!

Question: I'm turning 18 on Oct.7 this year. I was wondering, what would be a fun activity for my 18th birthday? (From: Jester1295)
Scott: Congratulations! My favorite way to spend my birthday is to have dinner with friends and family.

Question: I'm going to be in a play called ALADDIN JR. While on the subject of Aladdin, If Walt Disney were still alive, do you think he would have liked Aladdin? (From: Spencer Riley)
Scott: I'm fairly certain that Walt Disney would have loved the film, "Aladdin." It's part of the great Disney tradition of amazingly creative and innovative animation. It's got a wonderful story, it's filled with the great music of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, and the script is wonderful.

Question: Did higher education affect your perspective on choosing a career as an actor? If so, in what way?
Scott: Leaving the business to attend Harvard was a difficult decision, but one I'm ultimately very glad I made. My experiences there and the education I received will be with me for the rest of my life. If anything, I guess going to college allowed me to think beyond acting, encouraged me to pursue other endeavors in addition to acting.

Question: What advice or tips do you have for students who want to stay focused academically while in high school or university?
Scott: While in school, acting should be considered just another exciting extracurricular activity. I think that's the healthiest way to look at it. Even if you find yourself acting professionally, you should always think of your acting career as your "after school" activity while you're still a student. It helps you keep a good head on your shoulders, it keeps acting fun, and it lessens the pressure of having a "career" at such a young age.

Question: As a co-producer for the short film, THE CRICKET PLAYER, what did your contributions involve?
Scott: Being a producer on "The Cricket Player" entailed many different tasks -- the term "producer" is a very loose one, and it basically involves doing whatever it takes to keep the production going. I learned so much making that film -- it was a great, hands-on education for me, and the short was very well received and went on to win several awards.

Question: What kind of writing projects are you currently working on?
Scott: This year I'll be writing once again for WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU on The WB. We're in the process of coming up with great stories!

Question: If you could write about any subject, for pleasure only, what would it be?
Scott: My favorite subject has always been Paris in the '20s. I wrote my college thesis on the subject and it continues to fascinate me.

Question: What are a few things you enjoy doing when you're not writing?
Scott: I love going to plays, museums, and movies. I love to read, to spend time at the beach, and especially to travel.
